Lutto nel mondo della musica lirica, ci ha lasciati il soprano Daniela Dessì, scomparsa all'età di 59 anni in seguito ad una malattia, era cittadina onoraria di Viareggio. Il riconoscimento le era stato assegnato nel 2010 dal sindaco Luca Lunardini “per la sua assidua partecipazione alle opere messe in scena al Festival Puccini di Torre del Lago e per l'alto valore artistico indubbiamente apportato che ha contribuito in modo determinante a promuovere la manifestazione in tutto il mondo”.
Al Teatro all'aperto di Torre de Lago Dessì si è esibita più volte riscuotendo sempre l'apprezzamento del pubblico.
